Dr. Judy McDonnell is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. Following her graduation from dental school, she served in the U.S. Navy for six years as a dental officer. In her first year, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency-- an additional year of training in complex dental procedures. After having earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander, she was honorably discharged in 2007. Dr. McDonnell has treated active duty Navy personnel stationed in Norfolk, VA and Jacksonville, FL; young Marine Recruits at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot in Parris Island, SC; and personnel from all branches of the military, including dignitaries, at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. For her distinguished service she received both a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. After her military service, Dr. McDonnell worked as a clinical instructor for the Dental Hygiene Program at Daytona State College and practiced comprehensive dentistry in several large general dental practices. Dr. McDonnell’s practice of dentistry in a military, civilian and teaching capacity has allowed her to truly recognize the importance of prevention of dental disease. Dr. McDonnell is dedicated to providing quality, comprehensive dental care with a focus on education and prevention.
