Dr. Barker is a third-generation dentist who strives to provide each patient with a comfortable and positive experience while helping them achieve their oral health goals. With a focus on providing comprehensive treatment in a calm and comfortable setting, he takes great pride in his ability to connect with patients while delivering customised and detail-oriented treatment. Dr. Barker started his dental journey at a young age, helping his father at his practices in Rumford and Boothbay Harbor as a child. Following graduation from Elon University, he worked as an office manager at a local dental office. This experience led him to complete the prerequisites for dental school at the University of Southern Maine before attending dental school at the University of New England. While at UNE, Dr. Barker was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honours fraternity for clinical and academic excellence. Following graduation, Dr. Barker served five years in the United States Navy, completing a General Practice Residency at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. Dr. Barker is a husband, father of two, and an avid outdoorsman who spends as much time as he can at his family camp in Mount Vernon. He enjoys fishing, spending time on the water, reading, and exercising. Dr. Barker and his wife also frequently care for foster animals and have rehabilitated and found homes for over 50 animals, ranging from cats and dogs to squirrels and turtles.
