Growing up in Maine, Dr. McVety was inspired by a family friend who was a dentist and developed an early passion for serving others through dentistry. He graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine before moving on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital in Denver, Colorado, with advanced surgical training. Advanced Training in the United States: Wehrle Training Institute, Engel Institute, Implant Pathways, Colorado Surgical Institute, Kois Center Graduate, Spear Institute, IMPRES with Drs. Adamo Notarantonio and Amanda Seay, Zahntechnique Lab, Nash Institute. Advanced International Training: With Dr. Tomas Linkevičius (Lithuania), With Dr. Bernardo Sousa (Portugal). Although Dr. McVety performs all aspects of general and comprehensive dentistry, he is highly regarded for his cosmetic and surgical expertise. He excels at cosmetic transformations (veneers, onlays, full mouth rehab, etc.), implants (single tooth, snap in, full arch), sedation, and periodontal solutions. Driven by a passion for helping people, he actively volunteers through the Dental Lifeline Network and the Finding Our Smiles Organization, providing care to underserved communities both locally and abroad. He enjoys running, skiing, traveling, and fishing (having recently discovered paddle board fishing). With a special love for Portland’s restaurant scene, he is a passionate foodie, especially gelato. He cares deeply for animals, with alpacas and giraffes among his favorites — both of which he has met up close. He is also an avid photographer who uses his skills both recreationally and professionally.
