Developing strong interpersonal relationships while providing caring and high-quality dental care is what Dr. Sunitsch enjoys so much about dentistry. The opportunity to provide high-quality care to a tight-knit community, such as the one in Sisters, is what drove Dr. Sunitsch to pursue and complete the purchase of Dr. Thomas Rheubens’s dental practice. Dr. Sunitsch grew up an Oregonian in the town of Klamath Falls. After high school, he moved to Tucson, Arizona to attend the University of Arizona, where he graduated in the summer of 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. Dr. Sunitsch earned his Dental degree at Oregon Health and Science University. After graduating in 2018, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Idaho State University in Meridian, Idaho. Following this, he was awarded a National Health Corps scholarship which required several years of service at a rural public health clinic. In 2019, Dr. Sunitsch moved back to The Dalles, Oregon to work for One Community Health, where he spent 3 years working as a staff and lead dentist. The opportunity to provide care to a small, tight-knit community drove Dr. Sunitsch to pursue and complete the purchase of Dr. Thomas Rheubens’s practice in 2022. He plans to commit to the education and skill improvement traditions of Dr. Rheuben and become an integral part of the community of Sisters. When not at work, Dr. Sunitsch enjoys spending most of his time outdoors with his wife, Leah. His favorite activities include camping, snowboarding, mountain biking, disc golf, and creating pottery. In the rest of their free time, Dr. Sunitsch and Leah enjoy hanging out with their dogs, Kermit & Yogi, and two cats. They have also recently welcomed a baby boy named Milo. Dr. Sunitsch is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Oregon Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Seattle Study club.
