Kimberly Bentjen, DDS, MD is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who completed her training in 2015. She moved to Reno in 2019 where she has been in practice for several years before joining Dr. Falke at Sierra Oral and Facial Surgery. Prior to this, she spent several years working as an oral surgeon in the Midwest and East Coast while her husband finished his education. She worked in both private practice and academic hospital-based settings where she learned to care for a broad range of patients with different medical, emotional, and surgical needs. She thrives on synergies created by teamwork and searches to build these everywhere she goes because she believes this creates the best environment for healthcare to be delivered. Dr. Bentjen grew up in Northern California. She attended Pacific Union College located in the beautiful Napa Valley, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2005, while also completing pre-dental courses. She then attended Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Southern California, obtaining her DDS and graduating in the top 10 of her class in 2009. She was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society which functions to recognize those who distinguish themselves with a high grade of scholarship. Dr. Bentjen also obtained her MD at Mayo Medical School (now known as Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine) in 2012 which offered further fundamental medical knowledge to apply in management of oral surgical conditions. Dr. Bentjen received her specialty training at a six-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in 2015, which emphasizes providing the highest level of patient-centered care to meet their particular needs. This included 2 years of post-graduate general surgery training, learning the foundations of surgery from incredibly talented surgeons in other fields. She became board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) in 2017. Dr. Bentjen is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Dental Association, the Nevada Dental Association, and the Northern Nevada Dental Society.
