Dr Carlos J. Huergo

Dr. Carlos J. Huergo is a Cuban-trained dentist who completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Havana. After relocating to the United States, he continued advancing his academic and clinical expertise, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. While Dr. Huergo possesses strong diagnostic skills and extensive experience in comprehensive treatment planning, he is particularly passionate about providing urgent and surgical care. His clinical focus includes a wide range of dental surgery procedures, such as the treatment of infected teeth, management of dentoalveolar trauma, impacted wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting and regeneration, sinus lift procedures, biopsies, platelet-rich growth factor therapy, and dental implant placement. Dr. Huergo is known for his warm personality, dedication to patient comfort, and commitment to excellence. He has completed Advanced IV Moderate Sedation training through Western Surgical & Sedation, enabling him to safely administer IV sedation, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and oral sedatives. His sedation expertise allows him to create a calm and supportive environment for apprehensive or anxious patients. As an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the American Dental Association (ADA), Dr. Huergo stays current with emerging techniques, technologies, and evidence-based practices to better inform and treat his patients. Originally from Cuba, Dr. Huergo has embraced life in Philadelphia and enjoys exploring the city’s vibrant restaurant scene—especially during the spring and summer months. He is fluent in both English and Spanish and is an enthusiastic fan of baseball and soccer, proudly supporting Real Madrid.
