Dr Katherine M. Hakes

Dr. Katherine M. Hakes believes in setting up patients for the best possible long-term health. To her, that means meeting patients where they’re at in their health journey and helping them progress. Katherine “Katie” M. Hakes, DDS, FAGD, FICD is truly the friendly, well-rounded Spokane dentist you’ve been waiting for. Educated at the University of Notre Dame (undergraduate degree—Microbiology) and University of Washington Dental School (graduated with honors), Dr. Hakes has been providing dental care in Spokane, WA since 1991. But her education has never stopped. In 2002, she earned a Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry for her 500 hours of continuing education, along with a minimum of five years in practice. Her dedication to offering the best possible dental care for her patients has been a lifelong pursuit. Dentistry is a family affair for Dr. Hakes. Not only does she consider each patient to be part of her bigger “dental” family, but she had the honor of her daughter, Dr. Jaclyn M. Eliassen, following in her footsteps and the pleasure of welcoming her to join her in practice as a Spokane dentist! At home, Dr. Hakes is just as connected to family, where she enjoys spending time with her granddaughters. A frequent hiker and cyclist, she loves to get outdoors and even enjoys traveling when she can. Home in Spokane, she loves to garden, cook, and finish her quilting projects. Married to her husband Harold since 1988, they have three children: Dr. Eliassen, Nick, and Alex. Dr. Hakes is an esteemed Spokane dentist and a member of numerous professional organizations in the dental field, including the Spokane District Dental Society, Washington State Dental Association, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Spokane Study Club, and Cerecdoctors Study Club. She has served as Treasurer for the Spokane District Dental Society and as a Board Member for both the Washington State Dental Association and the Washington Oral Health Foundation. Dr. Hakes is also dedicated to giving back to her community and has generously donated her time and expertise to various causes over the years. Currently, she is on the Board of Directors for Delta Dental of Washington as a dentist representative, which focuses primarily on reaching out to under-represented youth who are interested in the dental industry, all while serving as a Spokane dentist.
