Education: Springfield High School 1988, Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Indiana University-Bloomington, 1992; Doctorate from the University of Iowa-Iowa City, College of Dentistry, 1995. Resident at Washington University School of Medicine-St. Louis in 1996. Professional accomplishments: During dental school, Dr. Floyd received a research scholarship to study children's dental sealants and presented his findings at the National Institute of Dental Research annual meeting in Seattle. His academic accomplishments led him to a hospital residency program at Barnes-Jewish and Children's Hospitals in St. Louis with an emphasis in children's dentistry. Since returning to Springfield in 1996, he has held many leadership positions in the state and local dental societies, including the Central Illinois' Representative for the New Dentist Committee and delegate for Illinois State Dental Society. Recently, He served as Chairman of Continuing Education and Secretary for the local dental society. He was elected to serve as President of the G.V. Black Dental Society for the 2018-2019 term.
