Dr. Shivaprasanna Rai earned his BDS from GDCRI Bangalore, India, in 1984 and then earned his Master’s Degree in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (MDS) in 1988 from Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Manipal, India. Dr. Rai served as an assistant professor in the Department of Conservative Dentistry at the College of Dentistry at KMC in Mangalore in 1989. He then graduated with his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery degree) from Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia, in 1994. From 1994-1997, he was honored to work as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at VCU, in Richmond. While Dr. Rai has been practicing dentistry for over 36 years, he continues his education to expand his knowledge in different areas and stays updated with the newest technology and trends in the dental field. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Northern Virginia Dental Society. He is an alumnus of the Dawson Academy Alumni Association. Dr. Rai’s greatest goal is to provide quality, comprehensive dentistry to all of his patients and their families in order to improve their health and self-esteem.
