Dr. Hunter Kennis was born in Georgia and raised in the Lowcountry. In tenth grade after getting his wisdom teeth removed, Dr. Kennis said, “I want to do this.” From there, Dr. Kennis shadowed other local surgeons throughout high school and learned the ins and outs of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Kennis started his doctoral journey at The College of Charleston where he majored in biology. He then received his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency there, as well. He’s trained in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dental implants, CT guided virtual planning, jaw corrective surgery, facial trauma, TMJ surgery, oral pathology, bone graft reconstruction and office-based anesthesia. In his free time, Dr. Kennis enjoys being outdoors and exploring the Charleston area with his wife, son and three dogs!
