Dr John T. Poole III

“As a general dentist, I have made a special commitment to serve and educate my patients and our community. I will continue to learn and use the most current technologies, procedures and materials. My goal is to offer our patients more options, better results, and a more comfortable experience.” Dr. John T. Poole III was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry by the caring dentists he knew in his family and in his home community. He earned a B.A. Degree in Biology at Washington and Lee University in 1997, and he graduated from the College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2002. Following dental school, Dr. Poole completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency in 2003 while practicing in the U.S. Navy. He served at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida and Camp LeJeune, North Carolina as an active-duty navy dental officer. In 2004, he deployed to Kuwait for seven months with a navy dental detachment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2005, Dr. Poole and his family relocated back to the Charleston, South Carolina area. He joined Dr. Tom Janecek at Oakbrook Family Dentistry in 2009. Dr. Poole is an active member of the Coastal District Dental Society, the South Carolina Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He has been selected to be a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. In addition to his private practice, he works part-time as a dental provider with Welvista Smiles, a nonprofit group which provides dental care for students at schools in underserved areas of South Carolina.
