Dr David Smith

Dr. David Smith often gets the question, “Where are you from?” While generally easy for most people to answer, Dr. Smith was raised in a military family that moved around frequently (about every 3 years). Born in Idaho, he traveled with his parents and six siblings to Guam, Texas, Mississippi, and Alaska (Go Chugiak Mustangs!) for next 18 years. Dr. Smith followed his parents to Gilbert, AZ after his parents retired from the Air Force (he’s the baby in the family), and attended Arizona State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish. After college, Dr. Smith decided to follow in the footsteps of his father (an Air Force dentist) and his three older brothers (one oral surgeon and two general dentists) and attended Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health at AT Still University in Mesa, AZ—the same class as Dr. Stradling! Dr. Smith is a self-proclaimed mentor of Dr. Stradling because he became a dentist 10 seconds before him. Dr. Smith met and married the love of his life while in dental school, and they now have six children. Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family–going outdoors, hiking, camping, rafting, and road-tripping in their giant van. He also enjoys Mexican food, reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, and watching 80s and 90s hit comedy movies. Dr. Smith is passionate about providing dental patients with the most comfortable, stress-free experience possible. Watch out for his dad jokes that distract while numbing teeth! He believes that providing dentistry is more than just fixing teeth; it’s providing a great experience. When having dental work done with Dr. Smith, you are treated as a member of his family. He takes pride in honest, clear, realistic treatment planning, and has as an adage that he “would never do any treatment that he wouldn’t feel comfortable having done on himself.
