Dr Thor L. Mikesell

Dr. Thor L. Mikesell bought the practice in 1999 from long time owner Dr. (Doc) Hartesvelt and began his career working as a Family Dentist in Suttons Bay. Over the 20+ years of service, the practice has helped thousands of patients keep smiling and provided quality dental care to the community. Dr. Thor Mikesell was born in Utah Valley to a family of 9 children. He grew up working many different types of jobs and benefitted from watching his Father work as a dentist and Oral Surgeon. Dr. Mikesell studied at Brigham-Young University where he met and married his wife Christine who is from Michigan. After graduation they moved to Michigan to attend Dental School at the University of Michigan. Their first son was born the day before dental school started. Since then, more children arrived and they have a family of 5 boys who were raised in the local community and attended Suttons Bay Schools. Dr. Mikesell spent many years serving in the Boy Scouts of America organizations and enjoyed the excuse to go camping, hiking and what-not. He has also been very active in service at his church. When he is not in the office; you will often find him outdoors working on a project, hunting, fishing, reading or providing service to those in need.
