Dr. Coats was born and grew up in Starkville, MS, and he graduated from Delta State University in 2010 with a BS in biology. Dr. Coats attended dental school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, graduating in 2015. After obtaining his dental degree, Dr. Coats enhanced his education and scope of practice by completing a General Practice Residency program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He returned to Starkville in 2016 and entered private practice with Ferguson and Coats General Dentistry. Dr. Coats is a member of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has a special interest in implants, cosmetic and comprehensive dentistry. Dr. Coats and his wife, Mary, have two children, Finley and Shaw. In his spare time, Dr. Coats enjoys woodworking, playing golf, hunting and fishing with his family. Dr. Coats and his family are active members at First Baptist Church of Starkville and avid supporters of Mississippi State athletics.
