Doctor Matthew Willis came to dentistry a little later than some of his peers. Having earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering, he worked successfully as an electrical circuit designer for several years. Eventually, he realized that he wanted a profession that would allow him to serve and interact with people directly while still feeding his detail-oriented personality and interest in science and engineering. Leaving his engineering career and attending dental school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill required sacrifice for Dr. Willis, his wife, and their four children, but it was worth it. Now, Dr. Willis gains great satisfaction from helping prevent dental disease and relieving pain while providing comfortable and positive experiences for his patients. He strives for cosmetic excellence as he practices dentistry. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Willis enjoys doing activities with his family such as launching model rockets, flying remote controlled planes, and hiking.
