Dr. Kara McCray Demer received her B.S. specializing in neurobiology and physiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Dr. Demer is a member of Gamma Pi Delta, Prosthodontic Honor Society, and three national honor societies: Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Dr. Demer was awarded the “Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities Award” and the “American Academy of Orofacial Pain Award.” Dr. Demer was nominated as a “Young Dentist of the Year” through the Crown Council organization, providing her the opportunity to train with the world-renowned cosmetic dentist, Dr. David Hornbrook, for advanced smile designs. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and Lifetime Qualified Member of the Crown Council. Dr. Demer has gone through rigorous training and continuing education in dental sleep medicine and has earned the prestigious title of Diplomate with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. She is actively working with multiple physicians in treating their patients with obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. Her interests include CAD/CAM restorative procedures, cosmetic smile design, dental sleep medicine, implant dentistry, and orthodontics. In her spare time, Dr. Demer enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and rescue dog. She plays the piano, co-directs the youth choir at her church, plays many sports, and works out. She also enjoys painting, crocheting, clay sculpting, and cooking/baking for family and friends. As a native of Southern Maryland, Dr. Demer enjoys serving the community in which she was raised. Dr. Demer’s practice philosophy revolves around creating a relationship with her patients in which she can explore their goals and desires while working together to maintain dental health and function for a lifetime.
