Graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School in 1981. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a fellow of the International College of Dentists, a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and a PostDDS fellow. He is a member of the ADA, State and local dental societies. He was named Michigan Dental Citizen of the Year in 2002 by the Michigan Dental Association and Dentist Citizen of the Year in 2006 by the Detroit District Dental Association. Dr. Berman is board certified in Forensic Dentistry and was part of the initially responding disaster team (DMORT) to both the World Trade Center and Hurricane Katrina disaster. He has also taught courses throughout the United States and held various leadership positions in forensic odontology.
