Dr. Lisa Yerke brings her private practice experience and strong educational background to Cornerstone Periodontics and Dental Implants. She maintains a faculty position at the University of Buffalo which allows her to continue her passion of teaching and research while serving in private practice, enabling her to offer advanced, exceptional, patient centered care. Dr. Yerke began her training locally at Canisius College, where she excelled academically allowing her the privilege of an early acceptance into the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Buffalo through a joint B.S./D.D.S. program. She then specialized through continued training at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, earning a certificate in periodontics and implant surgery. After working in private practice in Rochester, she pursued her continued interest in research and teaching and completed her Masters in Oral Science at the University at Buffalo, with her thesis focused on the interaction between bacteria and fungi in oral biofilms. Her current research is concentrated on the effects of chronic systemic diseases and medications on the severity of periodontal disease. Dr. Yerke is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association,8th District Dental Society, Erie County Dental Society, Academy of Osseointegration, ITI Study Club, UB Alumni association, and International Association for Dental Research/American Association for Dental Research. She is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
