After qualifying from the University of Edinburgh in 1988, Stephen was commissioned into the Royal Army Dental Corps and served in the UK, Germany, New Zealand, The Falkland Islands, the Middle East and Africa. After completing his commission, he went on to gain an MSc in Conservative Dentistry from the University of Manchester, and worked in private practice alongside taking up a training post as a Resident Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with East Lancashire Maxillofacial Services at the Turner Dental School, Manchester. After 2 1/2 years in this post he accepted the position of Staff Grade in Restorative Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield. Stephen continues to work alongside Uppal in Harley Street (for the past 16 years), as well as several other practices in London, and the Royal London Dental Hospital providing endodontic advice and treatment.
