Simon has a passion for helping his patients to achieve the healthiest outcome for their teeth that they can. By combining listening to your individual requirements for your current and future dental care, and the experience we have in the practice to provide a solution unique to you, we will work together to achieve your goals. Simon is committed to making sure your care at Thackeray Dental Care is the best you have experienced in dentistry, and will do all he can to ensure this happens. Simon became the Practice Principal in 1997 and has continued to develop the practice and his team to be the award winning practice and team they now are. Not only is he committed to be able to provide you with the best care he is also committed to providing a place of work all his team are proud of. Thackeray Dental Care in Mansfield is one of only a few dental practices to be awarded the Investors in People Gold Award which is a benchmark in good people management practice. Simon has previously worked in the Orthodontic department of Chesterfield Royal Hospital, and was a Clinical Tutor at the Dental School in Sheffield. He spent three years studying advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry with the renowned Paul Tipton in Manchester. Simon is also involved in helping mentor young dentists in the early years of their career and guide their development. Simon also has a Masters in Law, and if you can’t see (or more likely Hear) him in the practice he is probably in his office preparing reports for the dental expert witness work he also performs. He is well known in the UK dental community for his views and is often asked to appear in webinars, podcasts, and presentations to the profession. He is a founder member and sits on the Executive Committee of the British Association of Private Dentistry and is the President Elect for 2025/26. He is also on the General Practitioners committee of the British Dental Association, as well as the Local Dental Committees for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. He is a Trustee of the Tubules Foundation Charity which has recently completed the building of a library in Kenya. He is also the presenter and producer of a dental podcast called ‘Private Matters’ with his colleague Rachel Derby. In his spare time, as well as spending it with his wife Claire and Son Noah, and their rescue dogs Bruno, Zara and Kane, he is also a writer, photographer and a keen musician, having played the drums for many years, and currently plays in a band with 6 other dentists from around the UK who perform at dental conferences.
