Born and reared in Eastland, TX, Dr. Bowles played baseball at Ranger College prior to attending Texas Tech University where he completed his undergraduate study in biochemistry. He attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he received his doctorate in Dental Surgery. In 2007 Dr. Bowles completed his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Womack Army Medical Center in North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army for eight years and received the Army Commendation Medal and The Army Achievement Medal twice—once for Meritorious Service at the 121st Combat Support Hospital in the Republic of Korea and once for Valor during the November 5, 2009, terrorist attack in Fort Hood, TX. Dr. Bowles’ passion and expertise in oral surgery (such as dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, and oral soft tissue grafting) also extends to facial cosmetics and facial surgery, including the repair of injuries sustained from Facial Trauma, Treatment of Cleft Lip and Palate Deformities, the Correction of Facial Deformities, Temporomandibular Joint Arthroscopy and Replacement Surgery. In 2011 Dr. Bowles developed the Texas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery as an outreach to those who need advanced oral and facial care. Dr. Bowles is active in mission trips to Central and South America with Smiles International & Healing the Children Foundations, in which he surgically corrects Cleft Lip and Palate deformities in countries that do not have access to specialized surgery. In 2014 he developed the Bowles Foundation, a charitable organization to help Texas children and adults receive surgical correction of their craniofacial deformities. Dr. Bowles was board certified in 2009 and is trained in all aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the National Dental Society of Anesthesiologists. A Fellow of the American Society of TMJ Surgeons, Dr. Bowles also is a member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, the Texas Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Texas Dental Association, and the Southwest Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is proud of his Texas heritage and loves the outdoors. When he is not in the operating room, he enjoys hunting, fishing, ranching, and, most of all, spending time with his wife and children.
