Dr. Elise de Latour travelled south from her childhood home in Wilmington, Delaware to join the Hokies of Virginia Tech, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences and Minor in Psychology. She extended her stay in Virginia to complete her dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. While in dental school she accepted an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship. She completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, focusing on comprehensive treatment planning and complex restorative procedures. She traded in the coastal beaches of Eglin Air Force base in Destin, Florida for the desert sands of Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She separated from the military as a Captain and joined a local practice, while her husband, Frank, finished his Army Oral Maxillofacial Surgery residency. Dr. de Latour spent a year as an Assistant Professor at the Dental College of Georgia, teaching the next generation her profession and craft. She continues to teach as an adjunct faculty member of the General Dentistry Department. Her passion for oral health and education are evident with each patient interaction. She values getting to know patients and understanding their goals and desires, to best treat each person individually. Dr. Elise de Latour and her husband, Dr. Frank de Latour, have two children and two bulldogs. In their free time, you can find them outside cooking on their Recteq, running by the river, or hanging at the playground with the kids.
