Since he graduated from dental school in 2002, Dr. John C. Theriot has been committed to continuing professional education, taking classes on a variety of subjects at twice the rate required by the Louisiana state dental board. In particular, he has pursued extensive post-graduate training in dental implantology, including graduating from the Misch International Implant Institute. He has earned Fellow status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, an honor that has required a commitment to regular coursework in this discipline as well as the successful completion of a number of cases. He has also obtained advanced training in conscious sedation and maintains membership in the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. Additionally, he maintains membership in the Seattle Study Club, an international network of dentists who are committed to excellence in dental care. Dr. Theriot believes in preventive dentistry and in the conservation of the patient’s natural tooth structure whenever possible. Originally from Pierre Part, Dr. Theriot first attended Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, where he received a four-year degree, before earning his DDS degree from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans. After dental school, Dr. Theriot gained valuable experience in a group practice in Houma, then established his own practice, Theriot Family Dental Care, in Lafayette, later opening up offices in Baton Rouge.
