Dr. Prasith Kim-Aun (nickname “Jawz”) was born in Cambodia and raised in France and Germany. He studied dentistry at the University of Berlin and earned his DDS degree at the University of Ulm (both in Germany). After practicing in private practice for a few years, his desire to broaden his scope of dentistry led him to the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia where he attended the PASS program (Program for Advanced Standing Students) – a special program tailored to non-US-trained dentists. He eventually earned his DMD degree from this program and conveyed his knowledge as a PASS instructor to other upcoming PASS doctors before he moved to Washington State. He served underprivileged patients in community health clinics for two years before he opened his own private practice in University Place (WA) with his wife who is also a dentist. His passion for continuing education and surgery led him down the path of implant dentistry. His implant education includes training at the Southern California Academy of General Dentistry, the Ladera Ranch Implant Institute (now called the Engel Institute), the AIC (Advanced Dental Implant Research and Education Center), and the “Clinical Implantology A-Z” program at the Washington Academy of General Dentistry. He has clocked in over 1,000 hours of implant-related continuing education and has been the co-director of the “Implantology A-Z” program at the WA AGD since 2020. Dr. P. has earned his Fellowship with the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantologists) and is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. In his spare time, Dr. P. enjoys airsoft, soccer, movies, and the adventures of fatherhood to his two beautiful daughters. He was also editor-in-chief for Starfleet International (www.sfi.org), the largest Star Trek fan club in the world, for three consecutive years and still enjoys all kinds of science fiction.
