For Dr. Michelle Saunders, dentistry has been a lifelong calling deeply influenced by her family’s passion for service. Her introduction to the field began during her childhood, when her parents pursued missionary work overseas. Her father—a 1965 graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry—served at the Karachi Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Pakistan, where Dr. Saunders often joined his dental team on visits to remote villages to provide care for underserved patients. Her family’s international journey took them to Okinawa, Hong Kong, and Singapore before she returned to the United States to pursue her education. Dr. Saunders earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1992. She joined Jayhawk Dental’s predecessor practice in 1997 and became a partner in 2001, helping to shape the practice’s long-standing reputation for integrity, education, and excellence in patient care. Dr. Saunders is a proud member of the American Dental Association and the Kansas Dental Association. She lives in Lawrence with her five children—Dakota, Savannah, Bailey, Hueston, and Macy—and enjoys spending time with her family and giving back to the local community.
