Dr. Melissa Backman grew up in the Lexington area. She knew she wanted to return to her hometown to practice dentistry and in 2009 she opened White Knoll Dentistry. Dr. Backman completed her undergraduate degree at Winthrop University and went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She completed a General Practice Residency after dental school at the Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City where she received advanced training in treating children and patients with special needs. She most enjoys working on very young patients and patients who have dental anxiety.
