Dr. Joy Moretti grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia PA. She graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1991. Upon graduation Dr. Moretti was awarded the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award and the American Academy of Periodontology Student Award. She attended a two year residency and earned a certificate in Advanced Education of general dentistry from the University of California San Francisco. She then attended her second residency at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry to earn a certificate in Periodontics. Dr. Moretti continues her dental education by attending multiple continuing education courses throughout the year. She has been voted one of the Top Periodontists in both Richmond Magazine and Virginia Living Magazine. Dr. Moretti specializes in comprehensive periodontal care which includes the treatment of periodontitis (gum disease), gum grafting, bone regeneration procedures around both teeth and implants, implant dentistry and cosmetic soft tissue procedures. She is a member of the Richmond Dental Society, the Virginia Dental Society, the American Dental Society, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, Richmond Women’s Dental Society and the Virginia Society of Periodontists, of which she was a past president. She previously held teaching positions at the University of California San Francisco and the Medical College of Virginia. Presently Dr. Moretti lectures to local dentists and civic groups on current topics of periodontology.
