Dr. Barker is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received degrees in Chemistry and Economics. He received his doctoral training at Fairleigh Dickinson College of Dental Medicine in Hackensack, NJ and received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree in 1983. He graduated with honors and was elected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Dental Fraternity. After receiving his dental degree, he completed a Residency in Oral Medicine at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill where his training included advanced restorative care, surgery and anesthesia training. Dr. Barker began his Raleigh dental office in 1985 in its current location. In addition to his private practice, since 1987, he has been an Adjunct Professor in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and director of the Aesthetic Dental Curriculum. He has many organizational affiliations. He serves in a consulting capacity for several research firms and dental products companies.
