John F. Dunbar Jr. is a native of Spartanburg and graduate of Spartanburg High School. He graduated from The Citadel with a BA Chemistry and from The Medical University of South Carolina with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He then attended Richland Memorial Dental Residency Program. After graduation, Dr. John Dunbar returned to Spartanburg to associate with his grandfather, the late Dr. Paul A. Dunbar. Dr. John Dunbar serves on the board for the School for the Deaf and Blind and is Assistant Scout Leader for Boy Scout Troop 1 at the Church of the Advent. When he is not treating patients, he enjoys traveling to hunt, fish, and scuba dive. He and his wife, Merrimac, have two boys, Hunt and John Russel.
