Dr. Maura Brungo is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and a graduate of Penn State University. Her father, Vincent M. Beirne, DDS practiced dentistry for over 47 years. She met her husband, Ron, during their dental training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where they graduated in 1993. During their four years at Pitt, they took several additional electives including Handicapped Dentistry and externships in Oral Surgery at Montefiore Hospital and Pediatric Dentistry at Children's Hospital. Prior to opening their present practice in State College, they spent seven years practicing dentistry with the United States Public Health as Commissioned Officers in the Indian Health Service, serving on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota and in Juneau, Alaska. She is dedicated to constantly improving her skills through advanced dental education and volunteers at the Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) clinic and the annual "Give Kids A Smile" dental program. She resides in Boalsburg, has three grown children, and is active in her local church and community.
