Dr. Alan M Timko received his BS in Biology from Grove City College in 1975 and his Degree in Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine in 1980. He also received his Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Pittsburgh in 1982. Dr. Timko is one of the few Board Certified Periodontists in Western Pennsylvania, achieving Diplomate Status from the American Board of Periodontology in 1989. He currently holds an appointment as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine, in the Department of Periodontics. He has given numerous lectures, including presentations at the American Academy of Periodontology Annual Meeting. Dr. Timko resumed the practice in 1982, which was first established by his father, Dr. Michael Timko, in 1958. He was the first periodontist in Pittsburgh to utilize computerized charting, one of the first 8 dentists in the US to become certified in Piezosurgery, and the first board certified periodontist in Western Pennsylvania to be certified in LANAP and The Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique. He maintains his practice in Pittsburgh's North Hills.
