Dr Paul McHugh graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1980. Initially he worked in the RAAF as a serving Dentist, before becoming the senior lecturer to the dental hygienist course and then commencing private practice. He returned to Adelaide University and became a registered periodontist in 1991. In specialist private practice in Adelaide he started Adelaide Periodontics and Implant Professionals. Paul’s clinical and scientific interests are in the field of periodontal tissue regeneration, bone grafting and dental implants. Paul has been actively involved with undergraduate and postgraduate training for dentists and dental hygienists, and is a speaker for the ITI. He has served as chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP), and Australian Society of Periodontology (ASP state and federal). Paul has received fellowships from the International Team of Implantology, The Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentistry. Paul is married with two adult children. Away from the practice he and his wife Fatima are supporters of the Visual arts having been involved with the Hellmann Academy, and now the Jam Factory and are members of the Art Gallery of SA. They enjoy playing tennis and wine and dining with friends.
