Sara’s passion has always been holistic, ensuring each patient is treated as an individual. She ensures that patient care is at the centre of everything her team does. Her philosophy has always been to treat the whole person, acknowledging the interplay between oral health and general health, whilst also appreciating the impact that environmental, occupational, social, emotional and spiritual factors may have on health and decision making. Sara graduated as a dentist from The University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK in 1992. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Health Promotion from Curtin University and diversified into Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine, graduating from the Australian Institute of Holistic Medicine in 2014. Sara’s career has taken her from NHS practice and community health services in northeast England to country and remote clinics in Western Australia. Her Aussie journey began in 1996 working in the government system in Bunbury, before moving to Christmas Island where she was the sole dentist for 6 years. During her time in the Indian Ocean Territories, Sara had a family and studied concurrently for post-graduate qualifications in health promotion and public health. She moved back to Perth in 2003, since when she has been working in private practice. She provides a wide range of treatment options (including the use of biocompatible dental materials, safe amalgam removal, implants and nitrous oxide sedation), and works collaboratively with several dental specialists who also regularly refer patients to her. Sara is a member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, the International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology and the Australian Natural Therapists’ Association and regularly attends postgraduate courses in all modalities. Sara enjoys treating patients of all ages and has previously cared for patients ranging from 12 months to 105-year-olds! She is grateful for being part of many patients’ initial dental experiences, and over the years she has converted many fearful, anxious and apprehensive patients into fearless, regular dental attenders.
