Dr Niels Kirsten was born and raised in Townsville. He began his healthcare career in 2010, graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing Science from James Cook University. As a registered nurse, he worked extensively in rural and remote communities across Far North Queensland, gaining valuable experience in patient care, clinical decision-making, and complex medical environments. Following in his father’s footsteps, Dr Kirsten went on to complete a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at James Cook University, graduating in 2015. Having grown up in a dental practice environment, his interest in dentistry, particularly surgical dentistry, developed early and has continued to shape his career. Dr Niels has a strong focus on advanced dental surgery and has completed a Graduate Diploma in Implantology. He manages all surgical cases at Teeth on Ferry, including complex dental implant procedures such as All-on-4 full-arch rehabilitation, sinus grafting, and surgical wisdom tooth extractions. He is known for his calm, methodical approach to surgery and his commitment to achieving predictable, long-term outcomes for his patients. Outside of dentistry, Dr Niels enjoys spending quality time with his son and staying connected with his family and friends.
