Dr. Babak Shokati is a board-certified prosthodontist. He received his dental degree in 1998 before obtaining his Master’s Degree in dental biomaterials and then MSc. specialty degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Toronto. He is currently holding a faculty position in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, directing Prosthodontics and Biomaterials Science courses. He practices as a prosthodontist with a focus on dental implants, and management of prosthetic complications. As an educator, Dr. Shokati is heavily involved in lecturing on a variety of continuing education courses related to dental implants. Drawing on his extensive experience in clinical practice, Dr. Shokati’s teaching approach is mostly revolving around evidence-based concepts and implant prosthetic techniques. In his clinical research at the University of Toronto, he had the privilege of following up and assessing the first group of North American implant patients treated by Professors Brånemark and George Zarb in early 1980’s to investigate the long-term outcomes of classic implant-supported bridges. This clinical study has been published in the dental literature and well-received in the academic community. Dr. Shokati has published several research articles in international peer-reviewed dental journals.
