He played various positions, including centre, wing, and defence, for teams such as the Spokane Chiefs, Medicine Hat Tigers, and Lethbridge Hurricanes. His time as a hockey player instilled in him a strong sense of teamwork and dedication. After his hockey career, Dr. Townsend pursued higher education at the University of Calgary, focusing on Biology and Sciences. He then attended the University of Alberta Dental School, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. With 19 years of experience as a practicing dentist in Calgary.
