Graduated from Carleton University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in chemistry and worked at Health Canada as an organic chemist. Graduated from the University of Toronto in 1992 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and returned home to Ottawa and originally worked as an associate dentist with Dr. Len Burman. Became a sole practitioner after Dr. Burman retired in 1995 and established the Beacon Hill Dental Centre. Married his U of T sweetheart Sue in 1997. Has three children born in 1998, 2000, 2002.
