Dr. Goertzen joined the Fourth Avenue Dental team in 2022.
After graduating from The University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Medical Science, Honours degree in Pathology & Toxicology, Dr. Goertzen obtained his Master of Science degree in Physiology & Pharmacology from the University of Western Ontario. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Toronto. Dr. Goertzen then completed his 3-year Dental Anaesthesiology program at The University of Toronto, where he gained extensive experience in providing general anaesthesia, moderate, and deep sedation to a wide variety of both healthy and medically-compromised adult and child patients.
He trained for three years at multiple hospitals in Toronto, including Michael Garron Hospital, The Hospital for Sick Children, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Sunnybrook Hospital, where he provided dental care under general anaesthesia, moderate, and deep sedation to medically compromised patients and those with special healthcare needs in both clinical and operating
room settings. Dr. Goertzen is licensed by the RCDSO to provide general anaesthesia, moderate, and deep sedation to patients of all ages undergoing dental procedures in a dental office.
Dr. Goertzen is an active member of the Ontario Dental Association, the Niagara Peninsula Dental Association, The Canadian Academy of Dental Anaesthesia, and The American Society of Dental Anesthesiology. Dr. Goertzen is also a clinical instructor at The University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Goertzen lives in his hometown of Niagara-on-the-Lake with his wife, Dr. Erin Goertzen.
