Dr Michael Poitras

Born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Michael graduated from university with an honours bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, then moved on to complete a master’s degree in dental biochemistry. Next, he headed to Québec City, where he obtained his dental degree in 2004. After 12 years of living the university student lifestyle, he sure was glad to start practicing his trade and was even more glad to open a practice with his life partner. Dr. Mike loves to be an active community member, whether it be the community in Santa Helena, Costa Rica, where he sponsored an underserved family in need of extensive medical care, or whether it be his home community here in Stittsville, where he helps host events such as Merge Robotics, the Stocking Project (Kanata, Stittsville and Carp), the Corona Share (Kanata, Stittsville and Carp), as well as donating office space for official PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s not forget Deschênes-Poitras Red Barn Dental’s annual appearance at our very own Stittsville Christmas Parade. Dr. Mike’s focus on the other hand is on orthodontics and general dentistry, including fillings, night guards, implant crowns, bridges, and dentures. Thanks to his humour and easy-going nature, he is popular with his young and adult patients alike.
