The youngest of six children, by some 15 years, and alone with his mother, Ali Behmard got to high school and dropped out. He headed to the U.S. to learn a trade he thought would provide a good living: auto mechanic. When Ali learned that there would be AirCare regulations in BC, he moved back home to be at the front of the hiring line. Yet his incomplete education nagged at him. At 18, as an adult student, Ali enrolled in Capilano College to finish his high school equivalency, and became inspired by science and the human body. It changed his life. Upon finishing, Dr. Behmard was chosen outstanding student of Capilano College and pressed on to UBC. With an honours degree in Human Physiology and an artistic sensibility cultivated in childhood, Dr. Behmard's curiosity would lead him to his true calling: dental medicine. Why? Because for him, dentistry is not just about fixing problems, but about providing a significant complement to overall health. Striving for excellence in all aspects of dentistry has led Dr. Behmard to participate in countless hours of continuing education each year, in all areas of dentistry, including: dental implants, aesthetic, and reconstructive dentistry. Dr. Behmard also loves teaching and sharing his knowledge with other dentists. He is currently a Lecturer/Clinical Instructor at the Vancouver Dental Education Center (VDEC), and has been part of the UBC Faculty of Dentistry as a clinical instructor.
