RACDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) Training Program

About This Course

Specialist medical and dental training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery jointly accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC), Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ), Australian Dental Council (ADC) and Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ). The program encompasses broad competencies based on the CanMEDS framework and includes Foundation and Advanced Modules covering core knowledge and surgical skills required for specialist practice.

Learning Outcomes

✓Perform basic life support on patients (DRSABCDE)
✓Perform airway assessments on perioperative patients in acute and non-acute settings
✓Demonstrate safe prescribing of commonly used medications for OMS patients
✓Understand normal physiology related to pathophysiological conditions
✓Master surgical environment, equipment and skills
✓Assess patients with OMS presentations in emergency department and outpatient settings
✓Conduct and present research in peer-reviewed environment
