James graduated with honours from Trinity College Dublin in 1994. During his time in college, he was awarded a Foundation Scholarship. This was only the fourth such scholarship awarded to a student of dentistry. In his final examinations, James was awarded the Dental Council Prize for achieving a distinction in Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology. After graduation, James worked in the Dublin Dental University Hospital and in private practice in London, Rome and Dublin. During this time, James continued his training, developing his skills in his areas of clinical interest, implantology, orthodontics and restorative dentistry. In the field of surgery, James was awarded a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a Postgraduate Diploma in Implantology from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has completed courses in sinus lift and Guided Tissue Regeneration in specialist centres in Gothenburg, Boston, Marseille and London. More recently, James has undertaken training in conscious sedation and pain management in the University of London. In the discipline of orthodontics, James has completed a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Warwick, achieving a distinction for the quality of his clinical cases. He has a special interest in non-extraction orthodontic treatment, low-force appliance systems, the use of mini-implants and the importance of the face in diagnosis and treatment planning. James is committed to using the latest biomaterials and advanced technologies, which along with his multi-disciplinary qualifications, ensure the highest standard of care for his patients.
