Dr Hegarty is one of the few orthodontic consultants in Ireland. Dr Hegarty qualified as a dentist in University College Cork in 1990 and worked in various Hospitals in London. Dr. Hegarty completed his orthodontic training at Cork Dental Hospital. After becoming a specialist orthodontist, Dr Hegarty underwent further training in Manchester and became a consultant orthodontist in 1999. Dr Hegarty is a consultant orthodontist with HSE and Cork Dental Hospital where he treated complex orthodontic cases that are otherwise too complex to be treated by an orthodontic specialist. He also trains other dentist at Cork Dental Hospital who wants to specialise in orthodontics.
