Richard is known for his gentle approach and calm, friendly manner that instantly puts patients at ease. Since graduating in 2014, he’s enjoyed all aspects of dentistry — from restoring smiles to removing wisdom teeth — but what truly drives him is helping people feel relaxed and confident in the chair. Understanding that many patients feel nervous about dental visits, Richard takes extra time to listen, explain, and create a comfortable environment. He’s specially trained in the latest IV sedation techniques and is one of only a few dentists in New Zealand offering Target-Controlled Infusion sedation. This advanced method helps even the most anxious patients feel completely at ease while allowing for complex treatment to be carried out safely and comfortably. Patients and other dentists alike trust Richard for his gentle care, precision, and reassuring presence. He also welcomes referrals for all aspects of general dentistry, including surgical wisdom tooth removal. Outside of work, Richard makes the most of life in Christchurch. Originally from Scotland, he loves exploring the Port Hills — running, biking, or climbing whenever he can.
