Malcolm graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental surgery in 1994, with credit. In his final undergraduate year he received the Leask Memorial prize for excellence in clinical dentistry. In his first year of employment he worked as a dental house surgeon at Auckland, GreenLane and Middlemore Hospital gaining valuable experience treating medically compromised patients, dealing with traumatic injuries and dentoalveolar oral surgery. He then travelled to England and worked in general dental practice both private and NHS at Seven Oaks, Kent. Malcolm enjoys all aspects of general dentistry.
