Lauren N. Santarufo grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She earned a BBA degree and minored in chemistry at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL and completed their honors program. She then moved to Philadelphia, PA where she attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 2010 with National Board Exam Honors. In 2011 Dr. Santarufo completed a hospital based general practice residency at Louisiana State University. She then continued her education at LSU by serving as an implant restorative fellow in their periodontal department. There she obtained advanced training in the placement of implant based fixed and removable dental restorations. Through her fellowship, which she completed in 2013, she helped to conduct research for several implant companies on immediate single tooth implant restorations. Dr. Santarufo met her husband, Curtis, while they were both attending residences at LSU, and they moved to Madison in 2013. They have two children, Thomas and Joseph. She has served on the Governance and Ethics Board for the Mississippi Dental Association since 2014. She is also a member of the Mississippi Association of Women Dentists. As a lover of lifelong learning she enjoys participating in several study clubs for continuing education. She spends time outdoors fishing and hiking with her boys and Border Collie, Panda. She also enjoys painting, cooking, gardening and watching hummingbirds.
