Dr. Daniel Johnson completed his undergraduate education at Bates College in Maine, where he excelled as a student-athlete in cross-country running and skiing. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Minnesota in 2012, where he was honored with both the Outstanding Student Award from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and a Certificate of Recognition from the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. He went on to graduate at the top of his class from the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency in 2013. A proud veteran, Dr. Johnson served in the United States Navy for 11 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) and receiving an honorable discharge in 2020. Dr. Johnson is passionate about comprehensive, evidence-based dentistry and has advanced expertise in restorative and aesthetic procedures, surgical techniques, and oral medicine. He shares his knowledge as an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Johnson completed fellowship training through both New York University and the University of Nevada Las Vegas’s California Implant Institute. He holds Fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI). In addition, he earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) and is Certified in Public Health (CPH), reflecting his commitment to the intersection of oral health and overall well-being. He is currently pursuing further education in Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine to deepen his integrative approach to care. In 2025, Dr. Johnson was honored as one of Minnesota Monthly Magazine’s Top Dentists, a testament to his clinical excellence and professional reputation. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Johnson enjoys time with his family. He is married to Dr. Julie Johnson Rolfes, a Pediatric Neonatologist and Bioethicist at the University of Minnesota. Together, they have three children. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys hiking, Nordic skiing, and the beauty of the Fall season.
