Richard Spurgas was born February, 1950 in Providence, Rhode Island. He’s one of four children born to an administrative and V.A medicial system who moved the family every two to three years throughout New England. He joined the V.A dental service after college and dental school in Virginia and retired after 24 years. At the same time he had joined the US Army Reserve Dental Corps and traveled to many Army insulations across the U.S. as well as Central America, Italy, Germany, and a development to Iraq and finally retiring after 22 years. Him and his wife have been married for 38 years and have 4 married children and 3 grandchildren. After his retirement he practiced dentistry for 12 years in Hickory, after moving to North Carolina in 2010 and has been at Elkin Dental the last year. He is an active member at First Baptist Church and enjoys gardening, fishing, and shooting.
