Dr Theunis Steyn grew up in Bonnievale in the Western Cape and matriculated in 1973. He qualified as a dentist in Pretoria in 1985, and started in private practice in Bloemfontein soon after. He served as President of the Free State branch of the Dental Association in 1991, and represented the Free State branch of the Dental Association as a Federal Councillor for 14 years. He was also a founder member of Oralnet, a Dental network company, where he served for many years as CEO. His special interest in private practice is Orthodontics. He was a recipient of the Service Medal of the South African Dental Association, and nominated and accepted for his service to the dentists of South Africa, as a fellow of the Assiciatio of Dentistry International, which was bestowed at an FDI meeting in Barcelona, Spain in 2001.
